Twenty-seven years at the intersection of engineering and technology: managing large infrastructure projects as a licensed surveyor, and building the digital systems underneath them, long before "digital transformation" had a name.
Currently leading AI data center and power infrastructure due diligence at TRC Companies. Along the way: designed a firm's first in-house network in 1999, deployed LiDAR and GPS workflows in the 2000s, and took Symmetry Land Survey fully digital as its founder.
About
01 — BackgroundI'm a California-licensed Professional Land Surveyor with 27+ years managing large infrastructure projects — commercial construction, transportation, utilities, and now AI data center and power infrastructure. Alongside that project management work, the same thing keeps happening at every firm I've worked for or built: I find the analog process and replace it with a digital one. That started with a network I designed and administered for a small survey firm in 1999, long before "digital transformation" had a name.
Today both threads meet at TRC Companies, where I'm a Survey Manager leading site due diligence for AI data center and power infrastructure projects. I also founded Symmetry Land Survey, which I took from a fully analog operation to a fully digital one. I'm looking for a remote role in project management, product management, or business development where technical infrastructure expertise and digital systems thinking are both the job, not just one of them.
The pattern
02 — Twenty-seven yearsFive firms, one repeated move: find the paper-based process and replace it with a digital one. Read top to bottom and it's the same story five times.
Case studies
03 — Proof pointsSite due diligence for AI data center & power infrastructure
Problem
Hyperscale data center and power projects need rigorous site feasibility — utility pipelines, transmission lines, grid interconnection, BESS, and solar — verified before construction can begin.
Approach
Lead technical due diligence and ALTA/NSPS surveys, own budget across concurrent site assessments, and coordinate subcontractor teams across disciplines and schedules.
Outcome
Reliable, on-schedule feasibility data supporting development timelines for AI infrastructure clients and major utility partners including SoCalGas, SCE, and PG&E.
Taking Symmetry Land Survey fully digital
Problem
The firm ran on analog, paper-based workflows — quoting, invoicing, scheduling, and lead intake were all handled manually, capping how much the business could grow.
Approach
Designed and built an integrated software stack from scratch: Pipedrive for CRM, Cloudflare Workers and Formspree for automated lead capture and routing, Cal.com for client booking, and Paycove for invoicing.
Outcome
A digitally-run, multi-office operation serving all 58 California counties, with automated intake freeing up time for business development instead of manual admin.
